JERRY MANDEL
SWINGING THE STANDARDS JAZZ BAND

Much of Orange County knows Jerry Mandel only from his years as president of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, but swing’s been his thing since he was in his crib, where his father played him the album of Benny Goodman’s famed 1936 Carnegie Hall concert. With a cast of skilled SoCal jazz artists, Mandel plays standards in a show that is as satisfying for those on the dance floor as for those who choose to sit and listen, dreaming of days and nights when everybody was as cool as a cocktail. From Gershwin, Cole Porter, Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ellington, Miles Davis, Jobim to contemporary popular and jazz songs this music dares you to listen without snapping your fingers.
